Pick Yourself!!

"No matter how much falls on us, we keep plowing ahead. That's the only way to keep the roads clear." - Greg Kincaid

Everyone of us is aware that the Philippines is one of the most natural hazard-prone countries in the world. This is due to its location along the Ring of Fire, or typhoon belt – a large Pacific Ocean region where many of Earth's volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur. As a countrymen, how does Filipinos respond to these kind of disasters? Do they let these ruin and totally destroy their lives?

This country has suffered an inexhaustible number of catastrophic events such as typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc. However, one of the best traits that Filipinos have is that they keep on being strong. After a terrible phenomenon, they tend to wear a smile and face these struggles. The Government tend to lead and address these terrible disasters for the country's betterment.

Everyone must always be ready and prepared because disasters can happen anytime and anywhere.

Learning Is Fun

During the 1st quarter of this School Year, we tackled in our ICT subject the Internet, blogging and search engines. Our teacher taught us the history of Internet, different internet components, internet tools, internet services, web server and browsers, types of data on the internet and the people behind internet. The next lesson is all about blogging. I learned the different types of blogs, portfolio of matrics and advantages of blogs to us. Lastly, we discussed search engines wherein we talked about combining search terms.

It's been normal that in everything we do, there are certain circumstances that we might face. Since this is my first time to publish blogs, I am afraid that someone might judge my articles. I am not that good in writing compositions that's why I am not confident with the articles I published. So, I asked help to my fellow classmates and other companions to address this problem.

Moving on, I must admit that the 1st Quarter lesson were really fun and hopefully I will enjoy and continue gaining new knowledge for the next quarters.

Duterte's Vision

The State of the Nation Address (SONA) is an annual address by the President that serves as a means to inform the nation about its present economic, political, and social condition. It is also a vehicle for the President to summarize the accomplishments and plans of his/her programme of government both for a particular year and until the end of their term of office.

This year's 3rd SONA of Pres. Duterte is kinda different. His speech focused on desire for genuine and meaningful change for the people. He emphasized that his campaign on "War on Drugs" will continue. He mentioned that corruption must stop and also warned government agencies to stop red tape; the budget for Mindanao must increase. He mentioned the fight against endo and promise to restore environmental integrity of Boracay. He even admire the Filipino migrant workers and talked about the third telco player.

"Your concern is human rights, mine is human lives" is one of the quote from his saying that really caught my attention. This made me confused because I think human rights is the right of people to live. It seems ironic. However it's good that he discussed very well about the environmental issues especially the Improvement and restoration of Boracay.

I just hope that President Duterte will do very well in serving us.

GARDENING FOR HEALTHY LIVING

Related image

This year's Nutrition Month theme "Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin" highlighted the idea of Family Food Gardening which also aims  to improve food and nutrition security by increasing access to a diversified source of food for families and communities alike, as well as improved incomes through sales from home-grown produce.

We are annually celebrating the Nutrition month every July to encourage and increase the awareness  of people to live in a healthy manner. The theme engages us to produce foods at home through the family's own garden. Having a garden can improve our wellness and it can also help us by selling some of our crops for additional income. The theme enlightens everyone of us to practice the habit of planting. We can harvest a lot of crops through planting and this can be our first move to lessen the issue of malnutrition.

Proper diet, regular exercise, proper hygiene and having a self-discipline can help us toward a healthy body. Backyard gardening is one of the best way to live our life to the fullest!! Having some healthy fun with our family is even better!

Together with our family we should start living in a healthy way to have a healthy life!!
